Douglas Gwyn

American computer scientist and Unix expert. Worked at Ballistic Research Lab in Maryland, where contributed greatly to the ANSI version of C. Helped turning C (which UNIX is based on) into a standardized computing language, which is used now all around the world. Was a frequent poster back in the heyday of Usenet. Currently Emeritus at US Army Research Laboratory.

UNIX was not designed to stop its users from doing stupid things, as that would also stop them from doing clever things.
