Joe Armstrong

Swedish computer scientist who is best known as the creator of Erlang. Expert in the construction of fault tolerant systems. Has worked for 30 years in industry and research. Author of several books. Coined the term "Concurrency Oriented Programming". Developed Erlang at Ericsson as the chief software architect of the project which produced OTP, a framework for building Erlang applications.

Implicit environments

The problem with object-oriented languages is they’ve got all this implicit environment that they carry around with them. You wanted a banana but what you got was a gorilla holding the banana and the entire jungle.
